What’s with all the restrictions to read the forum? Not like you have to have permission to post anything.
Are you saying it is another winemakingtalk.com in the making? I cannot believe Greg would allow that. Why would he?

Not so much , it just seems that every question a newbie needs answered has been answered 30 times .
And Greg , the Steves , Alan and I have had every discussion we need to have online .

Obviously this is me projecting but if I hadn’t been unemployed for most of the last 12 months , I’d have faded out .

I wasn’t aware you could no longer read the forum without being a member . That maybe part of what’s deterring new blood .

It’s still the best amateur winemaking forum on the net but it’s not what it used to be and I predict it’s slow death .

I think that many people get to a level of skill that suits them and then stop actively participating in WP. I always wonder what the business proposition is for those you start these forums. Does/did Joel want to sell it to some company at some point? If so, he probably missed the peak when it was much more active. For quite some time, it had people with some skill wanting to learn more than they could in the books and asking great questions. Now its more about newbies too lazy to search the giant archive.

Not sure what the reason is with the problem of reading the forum but I did receive this email and tried the link but it doesn’t work for me…..

    Hello GFiorot,

It has been quite some time since we’ve sent out a newsletter or update. WinePress.US remains alive and well, and still the largest winemaking & grape growing social network forum on the internet. 🙂

Facebook – I strongly recommend that you “like” or follow the WinePress.US facebook page. Did you know that you can log in using your facebook account? The WP forum is fully integrated with facebook. The link for the WP fb page is here: https://www.facebook.com/WinePressUS/ There is also a WinePress.US “Group” on facebook.. I’m not sure why, but fb wanted us to create a group, so we did.. feel free to join it here:

I’d like to thank all the current and past advertisers on WinePress, which helped keep the forum FREE for all to use. Please mention WinePress.US to any companies that you feel would benefit by advertising on the forum. Advertising rates are low, and we have a truly educated loyal group of members. Remember, advertisers keep the forum FREE for all to use. We do have an option for members to make a small $2 per month recurring donation if interested.

New Promo: There is a promotion to win one of two premium wine kits for WinePress.US members only. Follow the link below, be sure to log into the forum.

Please log in when you visit the forum, there are many features that “guests” cannot see compared to “members”. Keep in mind that you can create your own blog, or link to an existing one you have to increase followers.

I remember the days when we held a wine fest in various cities, where members became great friends. I have not forgotten, and am still considering one in the future.. just not sure how far in the future though.

Thank you again for being such a great group of people to become friends with. I hope to see you in the forum soon. Cheers, and best wishes to you and of course your cellars. Happy Racking, Cheers,
    Joel

If you are not a member you can’t even read it anymore. So weird.
